Assam’s textile heritage, particularly the handwoven fabrics crafted on traditional looms, reflects the skill, patience, and rich cultural legacy of its artisans. The way these age-old materials and techniques tell stories and offer thoughtful solutions immediately captured our imagination. What began as academic research quickly transformed into an immersive, two-week on-site craft documentation project moving from reading about the crafts to witnessing firsthand the processes, products, and mastery of the artisans in Assam.
